The DUOT department at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) is responsible for urban studies in bachelor’s degree, research master’s degree and doctoral degree courses at both Barcelona and Sant Cugat del Vallés Schools of Architecture (ETSAB and ETSAV). Additionally, third-cycle master’s degrees are offered by the Foundation of the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya.

The department has extensive experience in research activities, especially involving the dissemination of academic output in specialized media. The research activities of the founders and first professors of the DUOT began even before the Universitat Poitècnica de Catalunya was established

Urbanism-related activities in the ETSAB and ETSAV faculties have a long tradition and are a distinctive characteristic of both schools that is recognized by other Spanish and international academic centres.

The professional practice of former DUOT members is reflected in city-scale, landscape and urban management projects, developed from local to international scope.

The DUOT department has been a pioneer in our country, introducing landscape studies and issuing the first diploma in 1983.
